Traditional Thai Yoga Massage Association

Thai Yoga Massage is one of the main branches of Traditional Thai Medicine. Using gentle stretching and acupressure this form of bodywork restores health by re-balancing the energy flow throughout the whole body.
Jivaka Kumar BhacchaIts roots can be found in Yoga and Ayurveda and are thought to have travelled with Buddhism, from India to Thailand, over 2000 years ago. In recent years Thai Massage has spread to the West, gaining enormous popularity within the fields of complimentary health and Yoga. Preserved in its traditional form it has proved itself to be of great therapeutic value, following a highly practical and simple approach to healing.
In 2001 The Traditional Thai Yoga Massage Association UK (TTYMA) was formed as a response to this growing interest. Our foundation is based upon the work of Asokananda, an important Western exponent who wrote the first English language publication on this subject:
"The Art of Traditional Thai Massage".

TTYMA is a collective umbrella of teachers and therapists who represent a lineage of Northern Thai massage within the complementary health sector. Our aims are to provide support and guidance for all our members and access to professional training. Under this umbrella, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of teaching and practice. TTYMA's schools are accredited by CThA
